SEO professionals (and SEO “professionals”) love to talk about great content. “Content is king” may be the oldest adage in the industry, but a lot of SEO people are under the impression that more is always better, and that great content is just a matter of sweat equity.
So that’s a lie. On Reddit today, someone posted a picture of an attraction at a local restaurant. Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing, CA has a map of the world posted with the question, “Where are you visiting from?” Not only is it a cool thing to have in the right kind of restaurant – the post got a ton of traffic.
According to this post on the theory of Reddit, this post may have around 140,000 views so far. Give it time and that could absolutely double.
Here’s where it gets fun for the business. Some of those 140,000 people may actually be close enough to visit the place, or to at least check out their website and consider a visit. Maybe some of them have eaten there before, remembered how good it was, and suddenly remembered to leave a review on their Yelp (joining the 916 people who went before them.) Phil’s Fish Market might even be so lucky that they earn a few links. Maybe even from a small business marketing blog or two. Who knows?
Dreams Really Do Come True
If you’re Phil’s Fish Market, you might not have to do much marketing for a little while. For the rest of us, there’s a phenomenal post on Moz about how small businesses can create great content on a shoestring budget. Read it, take it to heart, and pass it around. Play your cards right, and your turn could be next.
note: we are not affiliated with Phil’s Fish Market in any way, shape or form. We’ve never even heard of the place before.Â

All you have to do is Google Phil’s Fish Market to see what you’ve been missing. The CNN coverage, Food Network, Sunset Magazines and on and on. Phil’s is a big deal!
I mentioned this post to one of our clients in Dublin. Turns out he’s been to Phil’s plenty of times, and thought it was nuts that we haven’t been. So it sounds like you’re right on the money!
